File Menu Help
--------------
The file area is for sending and receiving files to and from the BBS.
A - Area Change
Lets you change to a specific file area.
D - Download File
Lets you receive a file from the BBS using your selected protocal.
Keep in mind your upload:download ratio, i.e for every so many
downloads, you must upload a file. The file may be in any area.
G - Good-Bye
When you want to logoff of the board, use this command. DO NOT DROP
CARRIER OR YOUR ACCESS WILL BE LOWERED.
K - Kill a File
This will delete a file in the current area from the drive. Only those
with SysOp access can use this command.
F - File Listing
This will give a listing of all available files for downloading in the
current area.
B - Browse Mode Toggle
Toggles between Browse Mode and Normal Listing Mode. With browse mode
on, files are listed one at a time with all information being
displayed, instead of one file per line.
C - Clear Marked List
"Unmarks" all the files that you have marked.
N - New Files
This command allows you to search for new files since your last logon,
or since any date you specify. You will be given the option of
searching all areas, or just the current one.
Q - Quit to Main Menu
This takes you back to the Main Menu of the BBS.
S - Search File List
This searches the file listing for a filename or description that
contains the string you specify. You will be given the option of
searching all areas, or just the current one.
U - Upload File
This command allows you to send a file to the BBS. After the transfer,
you will be prompted for a description. Please be precise as possible
in your description, do not enter things like "Neat awesome game",
instead do something more like "Space Invaders Clone, very good.".
V - View Archive Contents
Most files available for download are stored in archives, which allows
for many files to be stored in one compressed file. To get a listing
of what's inside an archive, use this command. Be aware that there are
numerous archiving formats and only some are supported by this BBS.
The file can be from any available area.
E - Entire File Listing
This will list the files available for downloading in all available
file areas.
R - Read Text File
If there is a text file in the files section that is not archived, and
you'd like to read it but not download it, then use this command. The
file can be from any available area.
I - Information on File
To get a little more info on a file than is displayed in the file
listing, use this command. It will display the file size, description,
who uploaded it, time to download, etc.
